We are excited to bring to Scottsdale, Arizona, an in-person Introduction to NARM® Workshop. This special event will be led by Brad Kammer, co-author of The Practical Guide for Healing Developmental Trauma: Using the NeuroAffective Relational Model to Address Adverse Childhood Experiences and Resolve Complex Trauma!
NARM® is part of the rapidly growing Trauma-Informed movement, focusing on the long-term effects of complex trauma (C-PTSD) and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). We believe that healing complex trauma is a vehicle for personal and collective transformation.
What you will learn from the Introduction to NARM® Workshop:
- An overview of complex trauma from a NARM® perspective: NARM®’s theoretical and clinical approach to healing complex trauma
- The distinction between shock and developmental trauma
- NARM’s 5 early adaptive survival styles, their corresponding identity distortions, & how they affect adult life
- The pitfalls of working with all forms of trauma without recognizing the complex developmental themes running in the background
- Integrating a bottom-up (body-based) and top-down (cognitive or identity-based) therapeutic approach
- Live and video demonstrations
- The event also includes experiential exercises

Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Identify the impact of adverse childhood experiences and complex trauma.
- Differentiate between shock and developmental trauma.
- Discuss, summarize, and apply the NARM® approach to addressing complex trauma.
- Identify and define their understanding of the 5 adaptive survival styles.
- Demonstrate their application of the 5 adaptive survival styles in reflecting on their clinical work and clients.
- Apply and practice the basic NARM clinical skills (“4 Pillars”).
- Identify how the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) fits into the current field of Trauma.
- Differentiate NARM from other Trauma-Informed approaches.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
There are 4 continuing education credits available. Please note you must register to receive a continuing education certificate. No partial credit will be given.
• The Meadows is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Meadows maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This course meets the criteria for 4 hours of continuing education for psychologists.
• This course has been approved by The Meadows, as a NAADAC-Approved Education Provider, for 4 CE. (NAADAC Provider #62791) The Meadows is responsible for all aspects of their programming. Course addresses Counseling Services from NAADAC Counselor Skill Group.
