Supporting Presence, Awareness, Connection, and Embodiment

The Real Cost of This Work

You became a therapist because you wanted to help people heal. What you may not have expected was that you’d have to leave parts of yourself behind in the process.

Years of professional development may have made you more skilled—but not necessarily more alive in the room. Somewhere in the process of becoming a good therapist, you may have begun to feel that you've lost touch with some essential part of your own humanity.

Nearly half of clinicians in the U.S. experience burnout. But the statistics don't capture what it actually feels like.

It feels like showing up fully for clients while running on empty yourself. It feels like years of working alone with no one who truly understands what this work takes. It feels like the slow accumulation of unexpressed reactions — uncertainty, doubt, discomfort, frustration, grief — that you've learned to manage, contain, or simply set aside.

Therapists are trained to hold space for others. What the profession rarely asks is: who holds space for you?

Perhaps the next stage of professional development isn't simply learning more about how to do therapy.

Perhaps it's creating space to explore who we are while we're doing it—to be supported in our own development and rediscover greater aliveness, enjoyment, and fulfillment in our work.

"For many years I have felt lonely and hungry for connection in a profession that I have experienced as mostly disconnected. What a refreshing experience of helpers being real together."

What SPACE Offers

"The last 15 years of solo private practice have been pretty isolating. [SPACE] made me feel like I'm not alone — that there's actually a community of others doing what I think of as the real therapy."

— SPACE 2025 Participant

"I've noticed different states that I often cut myself off from to hold it all together for the client. [SPACE] is helping me move toward just being myself in the room — not leaving myself behind."

— SPACE 2025 Participant

SPACE is a year-long experiential program for therapists — not a training in new techniques. Beneath the various modalities, interventions, and skills therapists learn and practice is the person who is learning and practicing them. This program focuses on developing that person.

In six experiential classes, you'll explore the interior life of the therapist: the reactions we've suppressed, the vitality we've lost, the parts of our humanity we've been taught to hide. You'll do this inside a genuine community of colleagues who understand the specific weight of this work — because they're carrying it too.

Rooted in relational, humanistic, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based orientations, SPACE is designed to cultivate three things at once:

  • The personal space to examine what stands between you and your full presence as a therapist
  • The community space to be seen, supported, and held by peers walking the same path
  • The sacred space to reconnect with the deeper impulse that brought you to this work — and find it sustainable
